TEMPE, Ariz. -- Three players from the seventh-ranked Arizona State women's tennis squad will travel to Seattle for this weekend's three-day Pac-10 Indoor Tennis Tournament, hosted by the University of Washington at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center. Singles and doubles action will begin at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (PST), respectively, on Friday through Sunday. Finals will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Competing for ASU are junior Kristen Radford, sophomore Adria Engel, and freshman Jennifer Baker. For the Devils, Engel will be competing in the No. 1 flight, Baker will contend in the No. 2 flight, while Radford will be playing in the No. 3 flight. In doubles action, Baker and Radford will compete together in the second flight.
Sun Devil Head Coach Sheila McInerney, entering her 17th season with the ASU women's program, is excited about the tournament. 'It's a great field,' she commented. 'It's a super tourney after the holidays for the girls to get their feet wet.'
All nine Pac-10 teams which sponsor women's tennis programs will join ASU, including nationally-ranked Stanford (#1), California (#5), UCLA (#9), and USC (#12). The tournament will showcase four single flights and three doubles flights. Only the top three singles draws will include a consolation bracket.
