UCLA's Michelle Greco chats on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 4:30 p.m. PT.
UCLA guard Michelle Greco continues to be one of the bright spots on the Bruins' squad. Greco, from La Cresenta, Calif., leads the Pac-10 in scoring with a 18.8 average and free throw percentage (.912), is second in three-point field goals made (1.83) and fourth in steals (2.17). UCLA hosts Arizona and Arizona State this weekend.
Greco has put together a solid season so far in 2000-01. She was named to the all-tournament team of the Women's Sports Foundation Classic in New Mexico on Nov. 11. On Dec. 10 she had a career-high 34 points, including 25 in the second half against Long Beach. On Dec. 30 she scored her sixth 20-point game of the season against Georgia. Greco has led the Bruins in scoring in 11 of its 13 games. The two games that she didn't lead the team in scoring was when she was sidelined with an ankle injury and when she did not play against Washington State due to illness.
Greco was named to the honorable-mention All-Pac-10 team last season and was an All-Pac-10 freshman team member in 1999. Greco has made 20 consecutive free throws, only four shy of the school record. She leads the Bruins in field goal percentage (.394), three-point shots made (22) and steals (26). Greco is second on the team in assists with 22 and has a 3.8 rebounding average.
