Beavers slotted for seventh in Pac-10 softball coaches' poll

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - - The Oregon State women's softball team was picked to finish seventh in the Pacific-10 in the 2001 Pac-10 softball coaches' poll, it was announced Tuesday.
The Beavers received 17 points in the voting, while Arizona and UCLA were tied for first with 46 points and 4 first-place votes apiece.
OSU qualified for the NCAA regional tournament last year for the second season in a row, after finishing with a 40-21-1 overall record and finishing sixth in the Pac-10 with a 7-13 mark. All eight Pac-10 squads qualified for the NCAAs last year, marking the first time in any sport that a conference has sent all of its teams to the NCAA tournament, and in consecutive seasons.
The Beavers, who finished 12th in last year's national rankings, open their season on the road in St. George, Utah, for the Southern Utah tournament Feb. 3-4.
