Stanford begins its 2000-2001 dual meet season with Pac-10 matchups at Arizona State and Arizona this Friday and Saturday. The Cardinal is currently ranked #3 in the most recent Speedo America CSCAA 2000-2001 Coaches Poll, while Arizona checks in at #4 and Arizona State at #19. Stanford is coming off a light fall season which featured just one official competition for the swimmers and two for the divers. The Cardinal did finish second at the Texas Invite (December 1-3). Stanford is coming off a 1999-2000 campaign in which the Cardinal finished third at the NCAA Tournament and second at the Pac-10 Championships, snapping a string of 13 consecutive conference crowns. However, the third place finish at the NCAA's kept alive a string of 20 consecutive top three performances at the event. The Cardinal finished 6-1 in dual meets last season, including victories over both Arizona State (131-112) and Arizona (131-112) at home.

Arizona State has been busy early in the young season and has put together a 4-3 record in seven meets, while Arizona is 3-1 with the team's only blemish a loss at #2 UCLA on November 11.
