Cougars Face Tough Weekend

THIS WEEK: Heading into the first team competition of the spring season, the 62nd ranked Cougars travel to Calif. for what could be the toughest weekend of their spring schedule. The Cougars will take on top-ranked Stanford, Friday, 5th-ranked California, Saturday, and 39th-ranked Fresno State, Sunday.
McKENNA TAKES HOME HER SECOND PAC-10 TITLE FOR THE COUGS: Freshman Stacy McKenna (North Bend, Oregon) defeated teammate Moniek van de Ven (Stellenbosch, South Africa) in a match they played last Friday to determine the PAC-10 Flight IV Champion. McKenna defeated van de Ven 6-3, 6-2, to capture the title. The match was a continuation of the PAC-10 Indoor Championships which took place in Seattle January 12-14. McKenna also teamed up with senior Ana Moura (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) to take home the PAC-10 Flight II doubles title.
COUGARS IN THE RANKINGS: Four Cougars are currently ranked in the latest ITA poll. Junior Erica Perkins (Seattle) is ranked 51st in singles, while teammate and freshman Anna Dybicz (Jonkoping, Sweden) is tied at the 84th position. Dybicz and fellow freshman Lorena Arias (Mexico City, Mexico) teamed up to snag the 49th doubles spot, while senior team-captain Tamara Filipovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) and McKenna are currently tied for the 50th doubles position.
