Shantay Legans Diary

BERKELEY - The week didn't start the way the team wanted it to with the loss against Stanford. I feel the reason we lost was that our execution was not that good. Also, our team was without Ryan and Donte. We went in very confident that we could play against those guys, and what we found out is how much improvement is needed and the things we need to work on. Good passing, tough D and taking the open shot are keys for me. A game like this is always a disappointment, but the team can learn from mistakes and while we were down that we lost, there is another game in February where we can play our best and get a W. We'd all like to win for Lamp's last game against Stanford.
As for South Florida, wow! That trap was something else. It's different than a press and not something we come up against too often, but it's good to experience different defenses as it prepares us for the NCAAs. I'm glad Ryan and Donte are back. We adjusted in the second half and played pretty well in the last five minutes when we pulled out the win. I think we are stronger finishers and tougher than we were last year, and it has a lot to do with the confidence Coach Braun has in the team and the teaching he and the other coaches give us.
Now our focus has changed, and we are going to the Washingtons. Winning on the road is something we have to do to reach our goal of playing in the postseason. If we play hard and execute, our team can win both games.
Thanks to all the fans that come and support us at Haas. Get with you next week after we get back from up north.
