Men's Track Team Looks Forward to Northern Iowa Invitational

EUGENE - The University of Oregon men's track and field team continues to pick up speed this weekend, traveling to the University of Northern Iowa Invitational, Fri-Sat., January 26-27.
Assistant Coach Bill Lawson, a former UNI assistant coach, will take approximately 14 men's athletes to the Cedar Rapids meet, including three individuals that will compete in a seven-event multi-competition (Santiago Lorenzo, Billy Pappas and Jason Slye) that starts Friday.
Other Ducks tentatively slated to compete include seniors Rian Ingrim (shot put) and Kyley Johnson (high jump), juniors Jason Boness (high jump), Jake Horner (800) and Ross Krempley (800), sophomores Foluso Akinradewo (triple jump), Terry Ellis (60 hurdles), Adam Kriz (weight throw), and freshmen Jake Garlick (60 hurdles) and Trevor Woods (pole vault).
Last weekend at the Ducks' opener in Ames, Iowa, nine of the 11 Duck individuals that competed met Mountain Pacific Championships qualifying standards, including Cody Howell, Akinradewo, Boness, Garlick, Johnson, Kriz, Lorenzo and Pappas.
On the women's side, the Ducks will send athletes Sunday to the Great Northwest Open in Portland.
Last weekend at the Eugene Indoor, the Duck women qualified several individuals in the field events for the indoor conference finale - high jumpers Jenny Brogdon and Rachel Kriz, Holly Speight (pole vault), Ann Sullivan (long jump), Mary Etter (shot put, weight throw) and Maureen Morrison (weight throw).
The following weekend, the men's squad competes at the Meyo Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind., Feb. 2-3, while the women's squad travels to the WolfPack Invitational, in Reno, Nev., Sat., Feb. 3.
