Berman Clinches Win; Husky Men's Tennis Bears Down On Cal, 4-3.

SEATTLE, Wash. - The 28th-ranked Washington men's tennis team defeated California 4-3 to improve to 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. Senior Jeremy Berman clinched the win for the Dawgs with a victory over No. 22 Balazs Veress (7-5, 5-7, 6-2). Berman's win ties him for sixth place with Billy Jacobson (1982-86) on UW's all-time list for singles wins in a career with 68.
Also in singles play, Ari Strasberg who is ranked 89th by the ITA, hung on to defeat Cal's Erik Dmytruk (4-6, 6-2, 6-2). Junior transfer Andrej Bizjak got his tenth victory on the year, easily taking care of No. 41 Adrian Barnes (6-0, 6-2). The final point for Washington came from senior Andy Posavac, playing in the No. 4 position, who defeated Robert Kowalczyk (7-6, 6-3).
The Huskies lost the doubles point, but No. 1 duo Jeremy Berman and Andy Posavac defeated Kintz/Dmytruk (8-1) for their third straight win on the season. Posavac's three doubles wins tie him for eighth place with Mark Woolley (1997-00) on UW's all-time list for doubles wins in a career with 54.
Washington will face conference opponent No. 1 Stanford tomorrow, with matches set to begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
