Cougars Fall To No. 5 Cal.

BERKELEY, Calif.- The Cougars suffered their second straight loss Saturday, as they fell 2-5 to No. 5 California at the Hellman Tennis Courts in Berkeley, Calif.

The Bears started the day with a clean sweep in doubles action, making the score 3-0 in favor of Cal. going into singles action.

The Cougars were able to capture two wins in the singles competition. WSU's No. 51st-ranked Erica Perkins bounced back from a tough loss to Stanford's No. 20 Laura Granville Friday, to upset Cal.'s No. 38th-ranked Raquel Kops-Jones 7-6, 2-6, 6-4 at the No. 1 position. Freshman Stacy McKenna also snagged a win for the Cougars as she downed Cal.'s Catherine Lynch 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 4 position.

The Cougars will face No. 39 Fresno State, Sunday in San Francisco, Calif. at noon.
