Sun Devils Upset No. 23 Arizona, 67-57

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Melody Johnson had 14 points and 12 rebounds as ArizonaState snapped its 14-game losing streak to Arizona, beating the No. 23 Wildcats67-57 Saturday night.

Amanda Levens scored 15 points as Arizona State (13-6, 5-2) stayed even withOregon for the Pac-10 lead with its fifth win in six games.

The Sun Devils beat Arizona for the first time since Feb. 19, 1993.

Reshea Bristol had 16 points for the Wildcats (14-5, 4-3), Elizabeth Pickney11 and Aimee Grzyb 10.

But Johnson and Betsy Boardman, who had 10 rebounds, established ArizonaState's early dominance in the middle - Johnson with 12 points and eightrebounds in the first half.

The Sun Devils never trailed after taking a 16-14 lead on a 3-pointer byBrett Leonard 8:30 into the game. They led 40-30 at halftime.

Levens, who was 6-of-11 mostly from the perimeter, had 11 points in thesecond half.

The Wildcats' third straight loss left coach Joan Bonvicini stalled at 498career victories.
