Women's Tennis Improves To 4-0

STANFORD, Calif. -
Top-ranked Stanford University improved to 3-0 in the Pacific-10 Conference with a 6-1 win over 26th-ranked Washington on Saturday at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. The Cardinal is 4-0 overall, while the Huskies dropped to 2-2 and 1-1.
Washington, who was coming off an upset win over fifth-ranked California on Friday and is coached by former Cardinal great Patty Fendick McCain, won just one of the nine matches against the Cardinal. Stanford swept the three doubles matches to earn the first point, and then won five of the six singles matches in straight sets.
In a match-up featuring two of the top 30 ranked players in the country, eighth-ranked Lauren Kalvaria (Indialantic/FL/Boca Raton Prep) of Stanford defeated 28th-ranked Darija Klaic 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1.
In other matches involving two ranked players, 20th-ranked Laura Granville (Chicago, IL/The Latin School) of Stanford defeated 78th-ranked Kristina Kraszewski 7-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and 21st-ranked Keiko Tokuda (Clifton, NJ/Clifton HS) knocked off 43rd-ranked Erin Hoe of Washington 7-6 (6), 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
Stanford returns to action next week when it travels to the ITA Individual Indoors on Feb. 1-4 in Dallas, Texas.
