SEATTLE - The 25th annual Washington Open is set to kick-off this Thursday, Feb. 1, with the 1000-yard freestyle in Federal Way, Wash. The four-day swimming meet will feature over 65 teams from seven states on both the collegiate and club levels. The 1000-yard freestyle, which will be the only event on Thursday, will start at 6 p.m. The preliminaries over the next three days will begin at 9:30 a.m., while the finals will kick off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center.
The host University of Washington men's and women's teams will be joined in the collegiate division by Central Washington and Willamette. Last year, the Huskies won both the men's and women's team competitions at a meet which featured some of the top local and national talent, including four-time Olympian Dara Torres.
The Washington Open is the last official home meet of the season for the Huskies, as the women's Pac-10 Conference meet, hosted by Washington State, also will take place in Federal Way, February 22-24.
