Alex Kim Moves On To Semifinals Of ITA Individual Indoor Championships

FARMERS BRANCH, Tex. - Stanford's Alex Kim (Potomac, MD) continued his impressive run in the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships with two more wins on Friday at Brookhaven Country Club.
Kim improved his record on the weekend to 4-0 with his Friday matches. Kim won his second-round match over Virginia's Huntley Montgomery 6-4, 7-5. In the quarterfinals, Kim handed Georgia's Lesley Joseph a 6-2, 6-4 loss to set up a semifinal showdown with Duke's Ramsey Smith.
K.J. Hippensteel (Roanoke, VA) fell to fourth-seeded Oskar Johansson of Arkansas 6-3, 6-4 in the second round of singles play.
In doubles play, Scott Lipsky (Merrick, NY) and David Martin (Key Biscayne, FL) came up short in the semifinals. They dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision to SMU's Johan Brunstrom and Jon Wallmark.Kim's semifinal match is scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. (CST).
