Grinda, Rojer Advances At Rolex National Indoors

Farmers Branch, Tex.- UCLA senior Jean-Noel Grinda and sophomore Jean-Julien Rojer both picked up victories this morning to advance to the consolation quarterfinals of the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the Brookhaven Country Club.
Grinda defeated Mississippi State's Rene Combette in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, while Rojer advanced after Shuon Madden of Texas A&M withdrew from the tournament. Grinda is scheduled to face Radovan Chrz of West Florida, while Rojer will play SMU's Alexis Rudzinski in the round of 16. Quarterfinal matches are scheduled to begin at 5 pm this evening.
Grinda and Rojer also picked up a first round victory in the consolation doubles, defeating UNLV's Gegor Skorin and Nenad Zivkovic, 6-3, 6-3. The pair will face Huntley Montgomery and Brian Vahaly of Virginia in the semifinals scheduled for 7 pm this evening.
