Walker Falls in Quarterfinals at National Indoors

Feb. 2, 2001

Farmers Branch, Tex. - Sara Walker's run at the ITA National Collegiate Indoor Championships came to an end in the quarterfinals Friday evening, denying the Bruin sophomore her first spot in the semifinals of a collegiate grand slam tournament.

Walker, who won her second-round match earlier in the day over Florida's Jessica Lenhoff, 6-4, 6-4, couldn't pull off another victory, falling to Notre Dame's Michelle Dasso, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. Dasso is the tournament's No. 3 seed.

On Thursday, Walker won her first-round match, knocking off Tulane's Anna Monhartova, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.

Walker and the Bruins return to action next week, hosting UC Irvine on Thursday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
