Ducks Men's Tennis Comes Up Short Against Northwestern
Feb. 4, 2001
EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Oregon men's tennis team lost their second match of the weekend, this time falling 7-0 to the No. 51-ranked Northwestern Wildcats on Sunday. The Wildcats swept all matches en route to the 7-0 win.
In singles play, Oregon's Jason Menke pushed his match to three sets before falling to Northwestern's Ryan Edlefsen, 1-6, 6-5, 6-5. The Wildcats swept the rest of singles in straight sets.
'Tennis-wise, we're not that far off,' said Oregon head coach Chris Russell. 'But the mental discipline required to win is something we need to work on. 'We're young and we'll keep trying to get better.'
Up next, the Ducks travel to face the Idaho Vandals on Saturday, February 10, at 2:00 p.m in Moscow, Idaho.
