Rojer Falls In Consolation Singles At Rolex Indoors

Farmers Branch, Texas - UCLA sophomore Jean-Julien Rojer's bid to winanother consolation title fell short, as the native of Curacao,Netherlands-Antilles was defeated in the consolation singles title matchthis afternoon at the Rolex National Intercollegiate IndoorChampionships at the Brookhaven Country Club. Hosted by SMU, the RolexNational Intercollegiate Indoor Championships is the third leg of theIntercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Grand Slam.
Rojer faced Georgia's Bo Hodge and was defeated in straight sets, 6-3,6-1. Rojer advanced to the title match after upending Brian Vahaly ofVirginia, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in yesterday's semifinal.
On Saturday, Rojer teamed with Jean-Noel Grinda to capture the doublesconsolation title, defeating Rodrigo Echagaray and Eleazar Magellan ofKansas, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-3.
Rojer and the Bruins return to action next week, hosting Georgia Tech onFriday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 pm.
