PAC-10 PLAY, PART II
The second round of league action gets underway this week with theWashington schools traveling to Arizona, the Bay Area schools visitingOregon, and UCLA crossing town to meet USC. . . This week's hot teamcould very well be ARIZONA STATE. The Sun Devils picked up their firstleague win of the season and, coupled with some upsets last week, carrythe league's longest win streak at two games. . . The polls this week -STANFORD (No. 2 AP, No. 2 USA Today/ESPN), ARIZONA (No. 11 AP, No. 10USA Today/ESPN), and USC (No. 22 AP, No. 19 USA Today/ESPN).

PAC-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK - AWVEE STOREY, ARIZONA STATE
ARIZONA STATE junior forward Awvee Storey has been named the Pacific-10Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 29 -Feb. 4, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Storey, from Chicago, Ill., averaged 20.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in apair of road wins over Oregon State and Oregon as the Sun Devils won forthe first time in league play this season.

He scored 17 points on 8-of-15 (.615) shooting from the field, withseven rebounds and two assists in the win at Oregon State. In the win atOregon, Storey tallied his eighth double-double of the season with 23points on 11-of-15 (.733) shooting from the field, with 12 rebounds. Forthe week, he shot 19-of-28 (.679) from the field.

Storey is averaging a double-double in Pac-10 play with 13.6 points and10.9 rebounds per game.

It is the first weekly award for Storey, the 17th all-time honor for theSun Devils.

ARIZONA
In Saturday's win, Arizona shot a season-best .556 (25-of-45)from the floor, including a .773 (17-of-22) FG percentage in the secondhalf. Arizona is 7-0 this season when shooting 50 percent or betterfrom the floor this season. . . The UA defense also played well Saturday,limiting Oregon State to .318 (14-of-44) FG shooting. Arizona held OSUto just seven field goals in each half, and held the Beavers scorelessfor the first 10:11 of the contest. It marked the 11th time this season,and sixth time in the last eight games, that Arizona has held anopponent to less than 40 percent shooting. . . The 41 points scored by OSU tiesan Arizona record for fewest points allowed in Pac-10 play, equaling the 41points allowed to Washington State in a 1988 Wildcat win. . . FreshmanTravis Hanour played 17 minutes vs. Oregon State and responded with acareer-high 11 points. He hit 4-of-5 shots from the floor, including3-of-4 from three-point range. On the week, Hanour hit 6-of-9 FGattempts and totaled 15 points.

ARIZONA STATE
By completing the road sweep with a win over Oregon, theSun Devils swept a road series for just the second time since 1996. . .The 27-point victory margin at Oregon was the largest road win since ASUbeat Washington 90-62 in 1980-81, a span of 223 road games. . . . ASUshot 61.9 percent at Oregon, its best shooting night since Jan. 14,1995, when it shot 62 percent at California, a span of 189 games. The 61.9percent also was the second-best shooting night by a Rob Evans-coachedteam in his 249 games as a head coach (Ole Miss and ASU). . . When ASUbeat Oregon State on Thursday, it marked just the fourth time in thepast 18 attempts that ASU had won the first game of a Pac-10 road trip. . .ASU hosts the Washington schools this week, as ASU has won 12 of thepast 13 against the Huskies in Tempe. . . ASU has won three straight againstWashington State in Tempe. . . ASU will wear a patch on its home whiteuniforms in honor of the 10 Oklahoma State basketball personnel killedin the plane crash last week.

CALIFORNIA
With 1,571 career points, senior forward Sean Lampleybecame the sixth player in school history, and 69th in Pac-10 history, to reach1,500 points. He ranks fifth on the Cal career scoring chart and is 118points from the school's career scoring record (1,688 - Lamond Murray,1992-94). He's led the Bears in scoring in 16 of 21 games for theseason... Sophomore guard Shantay Legans tallied 15 assists and committed justone turnover in 57 minutes last weekend. He averaged 12.5 points and 7.5assists in a split with the Los Angeles schools. Legans has 33 assistsand just seven turnovers over the last six Pac-10 games.

OREGON
Oregon's 79-67 defeat of No. 7 Arizona gave the Ducksback-to-back wins over the Wildcats for the first time in 17 years. . .Freshman guard Luke Ridnour scored a career-high 17 points againstArizona, while senior forward Bryan Bracey led the Ducks with 23. . .Bracey is bidding to become the first Duck to lead the Pac-10 in scoringsince Terrell Brandon in 1990-91 (26.6 points per game). . . Juniorguard Frederick Jones currently ranks among Oregon's career top 10 in assists(230), steals (74), blocks (52) and three-pointers (91), and with 854career points, is poised to become the 22nd member of the Ducks'1,000-point club by season's end.

OREGON STATE
The Beavers drew 8,722 fans to Saturday's game withArizona. That was the largest gathering for a non-Oregon home game forthe Beavers since 9,003 fans witnessed the 1999 season finale vs.Stanford. . . Senior center Jason Heide had his most productive weekendof the season, averaging 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds against theArizona schools. In fact, the 34 total points are the most ever for Heide in aweekend series, surpassing the 33 points he scored at USC/UCLA duringthe 1999 season.

STANFORD
With 925 career points, senior forward Jarron Collins needs75 points to become the 29th player in Stanford history to reach 1,000points. His 625 career rebounds rank 13th on the Cardinal career chart... The Cardinal are shooting .416 from three-point range in league play.That's a better percentage than Oregon State (.401), Washington State(.396) and Washington (.391) are shooting from the field in Pac-10 play... The Cardinal look to rebound after their first loss of the seasonwhen they travel to Oregon. Stanford has won 10 straight over the Ducks,including the last four meetings at Mac Court.

UCLA
Senior guard Earl Watson has 208 career thefts (10th on the Pac-10career charts) and 550 career assists. With five more assists, he willbecome only the fourth player to be listed in Pac-10's top 10 in bothcategories. . . For the second consecutive year, the Bruins knocked ofNo. 1 Stanford at Maples Pavilion. Junior guard Billy Knight earned astart for the fifth time this season and responded with a career-high 22pts on 8-of-15 shooting, 3-of-7 from three-point range . . . Accordingto AP, the Bruins are now tied for second on a list of squads around thecountry that have defeated No. 1 teams. Notre Dame is first with nine,followed by UCLA and Duke with eight. North Carolina, Georgia Tech andOhio State all have beaten a No. 1 team seven times.

USC
Senior guard Jeff Trepagnier went over the 1,000 point mark forhis career after posting a season-high 19 points in the Trojans' win overCalifornia. He has 1,005 career points and is the 24th Trojan all-timeto record 1,000 career points. In addition, he added season bests of 11rebounds, five steals and four assists in that victory. . . Trepangier'sfive steals also moved him into second on the Trojans' all-time stealslist with 183. . . With his 15 points at Cal, senior forward BrianScalabrine now has 1,257, good for ninth all time at USC. . . The14-point win was the Trojans' biggest over Cal since a 23-point win in1985. . . CORRECTION: It was written here last week that junior guardBrandon Granville has 556 career assists to move into 10th on the Pac-10career list. Actually, he has 532 and should crack the top ten laterthis season.

WASHINGTON
Freshman guard Curtis Allen has registered double-figurepoints in three of the last five games. Allen is averaging 10.0 pointsper game over the last six contests. . . Junior center David Dixon was aperfect 7-of-7 from the field and scored a career-high 16 points inWashington's win over Washington State. He also recorded five blockedshots - the most by a Husky since Todd MacCulloch had five vs. UNCWilmington on Nov. 16, 1998. Over the last three games, Dixon isshooting 15-of-19 (.789) from the field, averaging 11.3 points per game. . . Withthe win over Washington State, the Huskies have now won 10 of the last12 games in the series, including the last seven meetings in Seattle. . .Saturday's win was the 750th for Washington at Edmundson Pavilion, themost wins for any college team in its present arena. . . The Huskieshave a 7-1 record in games decided by six or fewer points, including a 3-0mark in overtime contests.

WASHINGTON STATE
The Cougars look to break a Pac-10 record 30-gameConference road losing streak when they travel to Arizona this week.They'll find it tough in Tucson as the Cougars last won in McKale Centerduring the 1984 season. Freshman guard Marcus Moore was four years oldthe last time WSU won in Tucson. . . Junior guard Mike Bush posted hissecond double-double of the season with 20 points/11 rebounds in the winover Texas-Pan American. . . With four more assists, guard Marcus Moorewill have 68 assists for the season. Last year's team leader, Mike Bush,had a total of 67 assists for the entire 1999-2000 season. . . Afterhitting just 3-of-19 from three-point range in the first six Pac-10games in which he has played this season, sophomore guard Jerry McNair nailed3-of-5 from long distance at Washington.
