Cougs Head to Las Vegas

THIS WEEK: After having a week off the Cougars will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend to compete in two dual matches. The Cougars will face Florida International (FIU) and Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV) Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN PANTHERS: FIU is coming off of a 5-2 upset over No. 41 Miami, the first defeat of the Hurricanes in the school's history. The Golden Panthers are currently No. 42 in the latest WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings. FIU's senior Anneliesse Rose is No. 71 with a record of 5-5.
SCOUTING THE RUNNING REBELS: UNLV is coming off a 5-2 win over New Mexico State. The Rebels are currently No. 63 in the latest WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings. UNLV's freshman Agnieszka Abram is currently No. 39 with a record of 7-5 at the No. 2 position.
COACH GROCE ON THIS WEEKEND: 'I think this is going to be a tough weekend for us. We will be competing against two strong teams. We are looking very well on the doubles court. I think the wins over Fresno State helped us to gain the confidence we needed. We are looking to our veterans for leadership, and our freshman to play with more confidence. I think this will be a confidence building weekend.'
PERKINS RETURNS FROM TEXAS: Junior Erica Perkins (Seattle) returned home after competing in the Rolex National Intercollegiate Championships February 1-4. She came back with a 1-2 record, including an upset over Florida's No. 34 Lindsey Dawaf. Perkins was one of nine PAC- 10 women, as well as the first Cougar to compete in the tournament
COUGARS IN THE RANKINGS: The Cougars moved up from No. 62 to No. 58 in the latest WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings. Five Cougar players are currently ranked in the latest ITA poll. Perkins is No. 51 in singles, while freshman Anna Dybicz (Jonkoping, Sweden) is tied at No. 84. Dybicz and fellow freshman Lorena Arias (Mexico City, Mexico) teamed up to snag the 49th doubles spot, while senior team-captain Tamara Filipovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) and freshman Stacy McKenna (North Bend, Oregon) are currently tied for the 50th doubles position. The new rankings will be announced Wednesday.
