Bears Edge Oregon State In Overtime, 72-69

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Sean Lampley scored a career-high 32 points and hitthe game winning 3-pointer with under a second left to give California a 72-69overtime victory over Oregon State.

Jason Heide scored a career-high 23 points to lead Oregon State (8-14, 2-8Pac-10), which only had seven players in uniform. Sophomore Emonte Jernigan didnot play, while point guard Deaundra Tanner did not dress for the game becauseof a two-game suspension for breaking an unspecified team rule.

With one second to play in regulation, Adam Masten inbounded to JimmyHaywood, who dribbled once and hit a layup to tie the game at 62 and forceovertime.

Solomon Hughes rebounded a 3-point attempt by teammate Joe Shipp and bankedin a 6-footer to put California (16-6, 7-3) ahead 69-68 with 24 seconds inovertime.

Heide was then fouled by Hughes, and hit one of two free throws to tie thescore.

The Golden Bears then inbounded the ball to Shantay Legans, who brought theball up and found Lampley at the top of the key for the 3-pointer.

After Heide hit two free throws to tie the score at 60 with 40.3 secondsremaining, Lampley backed Heide down at the other end and drew a foul. Lampleymade both free throws with 10.6 seconds left to give the Bears the lead.

Heide tried to answer at the other end, but his fade-away 12-footer wasblocked out of bounds by Lampley, setting up Haywood's layup.
