No. 6 Softball Defeats Georgia, 10-1 and No. 24 Texas, 5-0

TEMPE, Ariz. - The sixth-ranked Arizona State softball team (4-0) notched two more wins at the Fiesta Bowl Tournament as they defeated Georgia (5-3), 10-1 in five innings and shutout 24th-ranked Texas (2-4), 5-0. Both games were played at Farrington Stadium.
In the first game against Georgia, ASU scattered 12 hits and scored in every inning except the fourth.
The highlight of the game was junior Shiloh Talanoa's three-run home run in the third inning. After consecutive singles by Nichole Thompson and Kara Brun, Talanoa took a high fast ball and launched it over the right center field wall.
ASU pitcher Kirsten Voak (2-0), who pitched a perfect game the night before, limited the Bulldogs to one unearned run on two hits while striking out seven.
Leading hitters for the Sun Devils were Erica Beach (3-for-4 with a run), Thompson (2-for-4 with two runs) and Jennifer Forner (1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs).
In the second game against 24th-ranked Texas, Beach (2-0) earned the shutout, limiting the Longhorns to three hits while tying her career-high with seven strikeouts.
Beach also tallied ASU first run in the third inning as she led off, hitting a towering home run over the right field wall that was measured around 250 feet.
The Sun Devils sealed the win in the sixth inning as Missy Hixon and Voak started the inning hitting back to back home runs off Longhorn relivier Charla Moore. Kristin Farber and Thompson each chipped in with two hits with Farber scoring two runs.
Up next, Arizona State will wrap up the Fiesta Bowl Tournament back up at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex as they take on eighth-ranked LSU at 10:00 a.m. and 25th-ranked Utah at 12:00 p.m.
