Softball Earns 3-0 Shutout Against Tennessee

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Crystal Draper pitched a three-hit complete game shutout on Sunday afternoon to lift Oregon State's softball team past University of Tennessee, 3-0.
'Crystal pitched a great game,' said OSU head coach Kirk Walker. 'She was having muscle spasms in her neck but went on to do a great job. She was very focused and moved the ball well.'
With the victory the Beavers wrapped up play in the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Tournament and upped their overall record to 7-2.
OSU got on the board with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Senior Brooke Rutschman singled to shortstop with one out and advanced to second on Traci Feldt's groundout. Shelly Prochaska belted a single into leftfield that scored Rutschman on the ensuing at bat. Clare Burnum followed Prochaska to the plate and tripled to left-center to put the Beavers in front 2-0.
Oregon State scored an insurance run in the third inning when Rutschman singled in senior Shawna Feldt who had reached on a Lady Vols error.
'We jumped on Tennessee early, which was great to see,' commented Walker. 'I was excited to see our offensive production continue after breaking out last night.'
Rutschman finished the day hitting 2-for-3 with one RBI and a run scored while both Shawna Feldt and Burnum tripled.
Tennessee had a pair of doubles on the day.
Oregon State returns to the road next week at the UNLV Tournament in Las Vegas, NV. The Beavers open action in the three-day tournament on Friday against Loyola Marymount University.
