Bruin Injury Update . . .
Both Cristina Popescu and Zana Zlebnik, two Bruins expected to play high in the Bruin lineup this season, have been sidelined with injuries. Popescu, a former Bruin No. 1 player, hasn't played all season due to a knee injury suffered last year. Zlebnik, who played in the fall and at No. 3 singles in UCLA's first two matches of the season, is sidelined with a back injury.
Walker Back Among Nation's Elite . . .
Bruin sophomore Sara Walker moved into the ITA singles rankings this week, checking in at No. 13. Walker, who was sidelined for much of the summer while recovering from a back injury suffered at last year's NCAA Championships, is just getting back to full strength. Two weeks ago, she reached the quarterfinals at the Rolex National Indoors and this past Saturday she defeated No. 32 Ipek Senoglu of Pepperdine, 7-6(4), 6-1.
March Madness at the LATC . . .
From March 2-11, UCLA will host three non-conference matches at the LATC, including a showdown with crosstown rival USC. The Bruins kickoff the home stand with New Mexico on Fri.
