Kirsten Voak Claims Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week Honor
Feb. 12, 2001
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State softball player Kirsten Voak has been named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week for February 5-11, announced Monday by Commissioner Tom Hansen.
Voak, a junior from Fremont, Calif., opened the 2001 season by throwing a perfect game as Arizona State defeated Utah State 10-0 in five innings.
The perfect game was only the second in ASU history and the first since 1998. Voak faced the minimum 15 batters, striking out nine with only two balls leaving the infield.
This was Voak's first career perfect game and fourth career no hitter. In addition, this is Voak's sixth career Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honor and seventh Pac-10 honor overall (Pac-10 Player of the Week).
