WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - WASHINGTON second baseman Christie Rosenblad has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week while Arizona State pitcher Kirsten Voak was named Conference Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 5 - 11, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Rosenblad, a senior from Fillmore, Calif., sparked the No. 4 Huskies' 4-1 start by hitting home runs in four consecutive at-bats. Her first two home runs came in her last two at-bats against Texas Tech while her next two home runs came in her first couple at-bats versus No. 18 South Carolina. Rosenblad had the game-winning RBI in three of the Huskies' four wins this weekend and led Washington in batting at the Fiesta Bowl Softball Tournament. She went on to post a .444 average (8-for-15) along with a team-high eight hits and five runs scored. Rosenblad also posted a phenomenal 1.167 slugging percentage with 21 total bases and eight RBI.
Voak, a junior from Fremont, Calif., opened the 2001 season by pitching a perfect game in five innings for the No. 6 Sun Devils (5-1). In the 10-0 win over Utah State, Voak faced the minimum 15 batters, striking out nine with only two balls leaving the infield. This was Voak's first perfect game and fourth career no-hitter.
