CAL OPENS SPRING AT WILDCAT INVITE
Cal opens the spring season at the Wildat Invitational, Mon.-Wed., Feb. 19-21. The 54-hole tournament takes place at the par 71, 6,776-yard Raven at Sabino Springs Country Club in Tucson, Ariz. Eighteen holes take place each day with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. After advancing to their first NCAA regional last year, the Bears look for a strong start to the spring season in hopes of earning their first bid to the NCAA Championship this year.

2000 WILCAT INVITE
Arizona won last year's Wildcat Invitational with a 54-hole total 857. Duke's Beth Bauer was the individual champion with a five-under-par 211 (67-71-73).

THE FIELD
The complete field consists of: No. 2 Arizona, No. 19 Arizona State, California, No. 1 Duke, Nevada, New Mexico, No. 12 New Mexico State, Oregon, No. 10 Pepperdine, San Jose State, No. 4 Southern California, No. 5 Stanford, No. 7 Texas, No. 8 Tulsa, No. 17 UCLA and Washington. The tournament features the last 14 NCAA champions, including the 2000 NCAA champion and host Arizona Wildcats. According to the latest MaterCard rankings, seven of the nation's top 10 teams will compete. Additionally, 10 of the 16 teams are currently ranked in the nation's top 25.

2000 FALL SEASON IN REVIEW
Cal began the fall season on a high note, winning the 18-team Oregon State Invitational, its third major tournament championship in school history. The OSU win also saw the Bears match their team record for 36 holes of 597 and Anne Walker fire a Cal record 143 for 36 holes. Sophomore Vikki Laing recorded a team-low 76.4 stroke average during the fall.
