Women's Tennis Advances To Second Round Of WNITC

Madison, Wisc. - It was business as usual for higher-ranked teams on the first day of action at the Women's National Indoor Tennis Championship Thursday in Madison, Wis. at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The WNITC, hosted by the Universtiy of Wisconsin, runs from Feb. 15-18.

No. 20 Northwestern topped No. 8 UCLA, 7-0, for the day's only upset. No. 1 Stanford, No. 9 USC, No. 12 Vanderbilt, No. 7 Pepperdine, No. 3 Duke, No. 11 Notre Dame and No. 2 Georgia alldefeated lower-ranked opponents to advance in the main draw of the tournament.

With a 5-0 win over Wake Forest, the Women of Troy advance to the second round where they will face defending-champion Stanford on Friday, Feb. 16.
