In her freshman campaign, Hoffman, from Harbor City, Calif. has made an impact on the entire Pac-10 Conference, emerging as one of the league's premiere post players. Hoffman is second in the conference with an 8.1 rebounding average, second in defensive rebounds (4.95) and leads in offensive rebounds (3.20). She is on pace along with Stanford's Nicole Powell to be the first freshman to win the Conference rebounding title.
In her first season, Hoffman has started in 18 games and has appeared in 20 games overall. Her best effort so far came in USC's upset win over Oregon where she scored 19 points and attacked the glass for 17 boards, garnering her first double-double. She tacked on another double-double two nights later when she contributed 12 points and 14 rebounds against Oregon State. She earned Conference Player of the Week honors on Jan. 29 for her performances.
Hoffman came to USC as one of the top post players in the country. She was a two-time USA Today All-American, Parade All-American and one of only three athletes chosen as 2000 Naismith Award finalists. She led her Narbonne High School team to the California state championship and averaged 15.0 rebounds and more than 17.0 points during her four-year prep career. She set school records with 2,188 career points, 1,851 rebounds and 496 blocks.
