Littlejohn Joins UCLA Football Staff

R. Todd Littlejohn has been hired as a defensive assistant coach at UCLA, Bruin head coach Bob Toledo announced today. Littlejohn will coach the cornerbacks and new defensive coordinator Phil Snow will tutor the safeties.
'Todd is an outstanding teacher and technician,' said Toledo. 'He is a great communicator and I think he will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our defense.'
The new Bruin coach spent last season as a defensive backs coach at San Jose State University. For the last couple of months, he has been on the coaching staff of the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League. He joined the San Jose State staff after spending the 1998 and 1999 seasons at Utah State University, where he coached wide receivers.
Littlejohn, 35, has been an assistant coach since 1990. He worked as an assistant coach in 1990 and 1991 at Bakersfield College before moving to Missouri Western State College for the 1992 and 1993 seasons.
In 1994, Littlejohn was an assiatant coach at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, CA. After two seasons in private business, he became an assistant coach at DeAnza College for one season (1997) before joining the staff at Utah State.
Littlejohn, born on April 9, 1965, attended West Texas State and Fresno State and starred in two sports. At West Texas State, he earned three letters (1985-87) as a defensive back and was an honorable mention All-America selection in 1987. He also played one season of baseball as a starting outfielder for the 1988 Fresno State team that played in the College World Series. The native of Bakersfield, CA, graduated from Fresno State in 1989.
He and his wife, Toi-Yan, have three daughters, Kayla, Aundria and Aniya.
UCLA's defensive staff now consists of coordinator Phil Snow, who will also coach the safeties, linebackers coach Marc Dove, defensive line coach Don Johnson and Littlejohn, who will coach the cornerbacks. The offensive staff now consists of coordinator Kelly Skipper, who also coaches the running backs, tight ends coach Gary Bernardi, receivers coach Ron Caragher, quarterbacks coach John Pearce and line coach Mark Weber.
