WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- CALIFORNIA guard Courtney Johnson has been named the Pac-10
Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 12-18, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Johnson, from Antioch, Calif., scored a career-high 34 points to lead California to an 82-73
win over Stanford at Maples Pavilion on Feb. 16. She also contributed five assists, five rebounds and six steals, while committing just one turnover in 39 minutes of play. Johnson shot 60.0 percent from the floor (12-of-20), was 2-of-3 from three-point range (.667) and connected on 8-of-12 free throws (.667).
The Golden Bears' fifth straight win was their first over Stanford since 1993 and marked their
first Pac-10 victory at Maples Pavilion, as the Bears' last road win over the Cardinal came in 1986 (prior to Pac-10 play).
Johnson leads the Conference in steals (3.09 spg) and averages 3.33 thefts in Pac-10 games.
She ranks sixth on the Pac-10 career steals list with 265.
California (7-5 Pac-10, 11-11 overall) has won five straight, six of its last seven, and is
in fifth place in the Pac-10.
