Husky Women Golfers in 8th Place at Arizona Invit.

Tucson, AZ - The Washington women's golf team got the spring portion of its schedule off to a good start by finished eighth after the opening round of play at the Arizona Invitational at The Raven Golf Course in Tucson. The Huskies shot an opening-day 305. Arizona, the defending national champions, leads the tournament with a score of 293, one stroke less than second-place Duke.

The Huskies were led by sophomore Louise Friberg, who shot 1-over 73. Friberg and teammates Kelli Kamimura and Lindsay Morgan all shot 35 on the front nine of the tournament. Kamimura and Elisha Au are tied for 35th overall after posting scores of 77. Freshman Jamie Michaud carded a 78 in her first spring tournament as a Husky and Morgan finished the day with an 80.

Friberg's 73 matched her opening-round score from last year's Arizona Invitational, where she went on to lead the Husky scoring with a three-day total of 224.
