Tairia Mims Named Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, CA - UCLA softball player Tairia Mims has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for Feb 12-18, 2001, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Mims, a sophomore who plays four defensive positions for UCLA (1B, 3B, RF, C), hit .571 for the week, going 12-for-21 at the plate for the top-ranked Bruins. That total included six home runs, 11 runs scored, 19 RBI, 31 total bases, a .625 on-base percentage and a 1.476 sluggiong percentage. She was also perfect defensively on six attempts while playing catcher, third base and right field.
It is the first weekly honor for Mims and the 53rd for UCLA all-time. Mims is now eligible for NFCA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced on Feb. 21.
