Women's Golfers 12th after Two Rounds in Arizona

The UCLA women's golf team was in 12th place after 36 holes in the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, hosted by the University Arizona at The Raven in Sabino Springs, AZ.
The Bruins posted a team score of 307 Tuesday, four shots better than Monday's score, but fell from a tie for 10th place to 12th at 618. They trail 11th place New Mexico by two shots and lead 13th place San Jose State by one. Arizona leads the tournament with a team score of 583, followed by Duke at 587.
Individually, freshmen Melissa Martin and Gina Umeck continued to lead the Bruins. Martin posted a 75 in the second round, two shots better than Monday's score, and was tied for 29th at 152. Umeck turned in a score of 76 and was tied for 39th at 153. Senior Laura Moffat was tied for 56th at 157, senior Lelani Bagby was tied for 62nd at 158 and sophomore Vivan Phosomran was tied for 70th at 161. Sophomore Saki Uechi, playing as an individual, was tied for 86th at 167.
Duke's Candy Hannemann posted a three-under par score of 69 Tuesday to take the 36-hole lead at 140. Arizona's Lorena Ochoa was second at 143 followed by three players tied for third place at 144.
Final round action continues Wednesday.
