Women's Golf Finishes in a Tie for Ninth at the Arizona Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's golf team finished in a tie for ninth place at the Arizona Invitational held Feb. 19-21 at the par 72, 6,119-yard Raven at Sabino Springs in Tucson.
The Sun Devils ended up with a three-day total of 914 (313-295-306) to finish in a tie for ninth with Tulsa. Tournament host Arizona won the tournament (875), while Stanford shot a four-under 284 to finish second (883) followed by Duke (888), USC (892) and New Mexico State (899).
Individually, freshman Jimin Kang led the Sun Devil squad, shooting a four-over 76 in the final round to finish 25th (76-75-76=227). Senior Molly Cooper took 46th (75-78-78=231), while sophomore Melanie Hunt tied for 47th (80-69-83=232), junior Lisa Meredith finished in a tie for 52nd (82-83-78=233) and sophomore Blair O'Neal tied for 59th (83-79-74=236). Senior Michaela Friberg, who was playing as an individual, ended up 90th (84-91-85=260).
Arizona's Lorena Ochoa took home medalist honors, downing Candy Hanneman of Duke in a playoff. The pair each finished the tournament with a three-round total of 213.
The Sun Devils return to action March 5-7 at the San Jose State Invitational in Monterrey, Calif.
