Women's Golfers Finish 11th in Arizona

The UCLA women's golf team finished 11th Wednesday at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, hosted by the University of Arizona at The Raven in Sabino Springs, AZ.
The Bruins recorded a final round team score of 299 and finished with a 54-hole total of 917. They were two shots behind ninth place Arizona State and Tulsa and two shots ahead of New Mexico, which finished 12th at 919.
Host Arizona won the tournament with a three-round score of 875, eight shots ahead of second place Stanford and 13 shots in front of third place Duke.
Individually, UCLA freshman Gina Umeck tied for 22nd place at 226 after posting a third round score of 73. Freshman Melissa Martin carded a score of 76 and tied for 26th at 228. Seniors Laura Moffat and Leilani Bagby tied for 37th and 62nd, respectively. Moffat posted a final round of 73. Sophomore Vivan Phosomran tied for 65th at 238. Finally, sophomore Saki Uechi tied for 67th at 240, but posted a round of 73 on Wednesday.
Arizona's Lorena Ochoa won a playoff with Duke's Candy Hannemann to take medalist honors after both players tied with 54-hole totals of 213, three-under par. USC's Candie Kung and Stanford's Stephanie Keever tied for third place at 215. Keever posted the day's low round, a seven-under par 65.
