Beavers Upend USC, 68-52

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Brian Jackson scored 22 points as Oregon State used a13-0 run early in the second half to upset Southern California 68-52 Thursdaynight.
Brandon Granville had 16 points for USC, which shot just under 30 percent.In their last trip to Gill Coliseum, the Trojans made a Pac-10-record 203-pointers, but this time they were 4-of-21.
The loss might have been even more embarrassing for the Trojans than their105-61 thrashing by Arizona at home last Saturday. It also might have lessenedtheir chances for an NCAA tournament berth. USC must win three of its lastfive,a stretch that includes games at Oregon and at home against Stanford, toreach 20 victories.
Oregon State led by just six at halftime, but Southern Cal scored the firstseven points of the second half to take a 26-25 lead. The Beavers took controlby keeping the Trojans scoreless for the next 5:15 while scoring on sixstraight possessions.
Brian Scalabrine was called for an intentional foul on Jackson, who madeboth free throws. The Beavers got the ball back, and Heide made one of two foulshots for a 38-26 lead. The lead eventually reached 21.
Scalabrine and Sam Clancy each added 13 points for the Trojans, and Clancyhad 10 rebounds.
