Fresno State Tops No. 18 UCLA, 5-2

Feb. 23, 2001

Los Angeles -- The No. 18 UCLA women's tennis team fell to No. 34 Fresno State, 5-2 Friday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. With the loss, UCLA drops to 3-5 on the season, while Fresno State improves to 4-1.

Friday's match marked the fourth in a row that the Bruins were playing without No. 1 player Sara Walker. Walker, ranked No. 12 in the latest ITA singles rankings, has a stress reaction in her left foot. The Bruins have also been without the services of Zana Zlebnik who has been sidelined since late January with a back injury. Zlebnik was playing No. 3 singles prior to her injury.

Friday's win was the first-ever victory for Fresno State over UCLA. The Bulldogs were 0-3 heading into the match.
