Women's Tennis 2-0 At Home

LEWISTON, Idaho- The No. 54 Cougars handed the Utah Utes their fifth consecutive loss Friday. The Cougars swept the match 6-0, in a dual hosted by WSU at the at the Lewis Clark State College (LCSC) Tennis Center in Lewiston, Idaho.

The Cougars began the competition with a clean sweep of the three doubles matches, giving them a 1-0 lead over Utah going into the singles competition.

The Cougars then took five singles victories. The sixth singles match was not played due to time constraints.

WSU's freshman Zorana Roganovic fought back after losing the first set to Utah's Linn Ronnberg 4-6, to take the match 4-6, 6-2, 7-6.

'I was very pleased with Zorana's play,' head coach Cari Groce said. 'She fought back from a tough loss in the first set to capture the victory. I think this win will give her the confidence she needs to know that she can compete at this level.'

WSU improves its record to 3-4 overall while Utah drops to 1-5.

'I was very pleased with our doubles play,' Groce said. 'Utah played well and gave us a good fight. We came out strong on the singles courts, and swept most of the first sets 6-0.'

The Cougars will host the Broncos of Boise State at the LCSC Tennis Center in Lewiston, Saturday at noon.
