Washington Defeats Cardinal, 95-87

SEATTLE (AP) - Megan Franza scored 21 points and Loree Payne added 19 asWashington overcame 16 Stanford 3-pointers to beat the Cardinal 95-87 onSaturday afternoon.
The Huskies made 16-of-20 free throws in the final two minutes to seal thevictory.
Andrea Lalum scored 18 points for Washington (18-7, 11-4 Pac-10), whileLeAnn Sheets and Giuliana Mendiola both added double-doubles for the Huskies.Sheets had 12 points and 13 rebounds while Mendiola added 11 points and 12rebounds.
Stanford's Lindsey Yamasaki scored a career-high 34 points and tied a Pac-10record with nine 3-pointers.
Nicole Powell scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and grabbed 11rebounds for the Cardinal (15-9, 9-5), whose 16 3-pointers tied a conferencerecord set by Washington earlier this season.
Franza, Payne and Lalum each had two of Washington's nine 3-pointers.
Washington has won seven of its last eight games.
The Huskies trailed 62-54 with 12 minutes remaining in the game when Franzascored seven points during a 13-2 run that gave Washington its first lead ofthe second half at 67-64 with 8:29 remaining.
There were three more lead changes before the Huskies took the lead for goodon a Mendiola free throw that put Washington up 74-73 with 3:39 remaining.
Washington coach June Daugherty won her 200th career game. She is in herfifth season coaching Washington after seven seasons coaching at Boise State.
The loss stopped Stanford's four-game road winning streak.
