Women's Tennis Rolls Past Texas El-Paso, 5-2

SEATTLE - The 17th-ranked Washington women's tennis team rolled past the unranked Texas El-Paso Miners, 5-2, Friday, Feb. 23 at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Huskies improve to 5-4 on theseason, while the Miners fall to 2-3. The Husky netters will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 24 as they take on UC-Irvine. Matches are set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Washington dominated in doubles competition by winning all three matches. Freshman Claire Carter teamed up with Ilona Kordonskaya as the duo captured an 8-3 win over Ana Benas and Jana Perkova in the No. 1 spot. The duo of Kristina Kraszewski and Colleen Gray won, 8-3, over Kendall Exelby and Elizabeth Stone in the second position, while Erin Boisclair and freshman Erin Hoe defeated Elisa Bjorklund and Dione Gonzales, 8-2.
The dawgs collected four wins in singles competition. Playing in the top position, 24th-ranked senior Kristina Kraszewski handled Jana Perkova, 6-2, 6-1, while junior Ilona Kordonskaya won in the No. 2 spot as she downed Elizabeth Stone, 6-2, 6-4. Sophomore Andrea Coulter captured another win in the fourth position as she defeated Callie Dano, 6-3, 6-1, while junior Erin Boisclair defeated Kendall Exelby in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 5 spot.
