Washington Men's Tennis Silences Ducks, 6-1

EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Washington men's tennis team, currently ranked sixth by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, defeated No. 68 Oregon, 6-1, in non-conference play this afternoon. The Huskies (9-4, 1-1) have won six out of their past nine matches. Against the Ducks, Washington lost the doubles point, but secured singles victories in all six positions, for the second match in a row.
Senior Andy Posavac, playing in the No. 3 position, kept his unbeaten streak alive, defeating Bucky Mink in two sets, (7-5, 6-3). Posavac is now 11-0 on the season. Jeremy Berman, won his fourth match in a row, outlasting David Becker, (6-2, 6-7, 6-3). Senior Marius Lunde moved up to the No. 5 position and took care of Oregon's Jason Menke, (6-7, 6-3, 6-1). Matt Hanlin, Andrej Bizjak, and Ari Strasberg also earned victories for the Huskies.
In doubles play, senior duo Berman and Posavac defeated Becker and Pawlowski, 8-3. Washington was unable to hang on to the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches, losing 9-7 and 9-8, respectively.
The Dawgs will take to the road again March 3-5 as they face Pacific, Virginia Tech, and U.C. Irvine in Irvine, Calif.
