Lindsey Yamasaki Named Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Stanford guard/forward Lindsey Yamasaki has been named the Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 19-25, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Yamasaki, from Oregon City, Ore., led the Cardinal to a road split at the Washington schools, defeating Washington State and falling to Washington. For the week, Yamasaki averaged 29.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and two assists, and shot 58 percent from beyond the arc (14-for-26), 51 percent from the field (18-for-35) and 90 percent from the line (9-for-10).
In the Cardinal's 95-87 loss to Washington, Yamasaki tied the overall Pac-10 and Stanford records for 3-pointers in a game with nine (9-of-16), meanwhile setting the new Pac-10 record for treys in a Conference game. Her 16 attempts was also a Pac-10 record. Yamasaki scored a career-high 34 points on 10-of-21 shooting against the Huskies, with three assists, two rebounds and one steal.
In Stanford's 87-78 win over Washington State, Yamasaki scored 25 points in 21 minutes, grabbing five rebounds and going 5-of-8 from long range.
Stanford (15-9 overall, 9-5 Pac-10) has won eight of its last 10 games and returns home to host USC and UCLA this week.
The Player of the Week honor is the first for Yamasaki and Stanford's Pac-10 leading 40th selection all-time.
