Nationally-Ranked Women's Tennis Topples Tulane, 7-0

TEMPE, Ariz. - The ninth-ranked Arizona State (8-1, 3-1) women's tennis team increased their winning streak to seven with a 7-0 win over the University of Tulane in Tempe at the Whiteman Tennis Center. It is the Devils' fifth sweep of an opponent in six outings.

In doubles play, ASU earned its team point by winning all three matches. No. 33-ranked Adria Engel and Karin Palme teamed up for an 8-2 victory over Tulane's Nancy Kockott and Lucy Wood, and tandem Megan Yeats and Cindy Sureephong stayed undefeated in dual play (9-0) with an 8-4 win over Tulane's Anneli Axsater and Olga Mikhailova on the No. 3 court. ASU is 20-4 in dual double play this season.

In singles action, ASU dominated by winning all six singles matches. No. 35-ranked Adria Engel defeated Tulane's Anna Monhartova, 6-3, 6-3, on the No. 1 court, and senior Karin Palme improved to 7-2 in dual play with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Julie Morris on the No. 2 court. ASU sophomore Mhairi Brown improved to 8-1 in dual play by defeating Tulsa's Anneli Axsater, 6-0, 6-4, on the No. 5 court.

The Devils will host Furman University this Thursday at 1:30 p.m. (MST) at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
