No. 20 Oregon Softball Splits On Final Day Of Tournament.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Oregon softball team split a pair in the final day of the New Mexico State Tournament, beating Texas Corpus Christi, 8-0, and falling to Baylor, 3-0. The Ducks went 5-1 over the tournament to raise their season record to 15-8 on the year.
In the Ducks' opener against Baylor, the Bears broke a scoreless first five innings, with two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh. The Bears had nine hits, while Oregon had eight hits but left nine on base.
Duck sophomore starter Lisa Wangler picked up the loss after five innings, and ended with three strikeouts, no walks, five hits and two earned runs. Junior Connie McMurren relieved the final two innings and gave up two hits and an earned run.
In the afternoon, the Ducks rebounded with an eight-run, 12-hit attack. McMurren (5-3) picked up the shutout over Corpus Chirsti in six innings, giving up only 6 hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
Eight of the Duck starters posted hits in Sunday's closer with sophomore Amber Hutchinson stroking a home run and Lisa Wangler going 3-4 in the leadoff spot. Sophomore Alyssa Laux (2-4) and freshman Kate Peterson (2-2) each added two hits.
Next up for the Ducks is a doubleheader at UC Riverside, set for a 2 pm start, Thursday, March 1.
