OSU Signs Two Florida Players To Letter Of Intents

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State has signed a defensive back and defensive lineman from Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida to football letters of intent, it was announced Tuesday by Coach Dennis Erickson.
The Beavers have added Jamaal Jackson, a 5-11, 175-pound defensive back/wide receiver, and 6-2, 260-pounddefensive lineman Chris Scott.
Jackson, who runs the 40 in 4.4, was a four-year starter at cornerback and a four-year starter in baseball as anoutfielder at Edgewater High School, a Division 6A school. Jackson was a first-team All-Central Florida pick as well as all-league as a senior. Jamaal picked off seven pass interceptions as a senior. He also earned all-league honors in baseball. Jackson played in three Central Florida post season all-star football games in the month of December.
Scott earned first team all-state honors as well as first team all-league honors as a defensive end. He recorded a total of 11 sacks his senior year and runs 4.9 in the 40.
Both players played for Coach Bill Gierke.
'This was my 28th year as a prep football coach and I think both players have a chance to be outstanding collegeplayers,' said Gierke. 'I have had several of my players play for Dennis (Erickson) when he was at Miami and I knew he would like both of these players after he saw film. They were both recruited by all of the Division I schools in Florida, plus South Carolina and Georgia.'
