PAC-10 GYMNAST OF THE WEEK

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Arizona State Junior LAURA MOON has been named Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week for February 21-26.

Moon, a 5-3 junior transfer from Scottsdale, Ariz., led Arizona State's 13th ranked team to a record-tying team total of 197.125. The night was highlighted by Moon's quest for gold on the bars where she attained a perfect 10.0. Her mark was ASU's second-ever 10.0 on bars and its 14th overall. Her score enabled ASU to post a school record on bars (49.375) and elevated Moon's All-Around career high to 39.525.

Moon, a two-time MVP at the University of Maryland, returned home to Arizona and made an immediate impact for the Sun Devils. She improved her career-high marks on bars and in the All-Around since donning the maroon and gold. Additionally, of ASU's seventeen 9.900-plus performances this year, Moon is responsible for six.

Nationally, Moon checks in at ninth on bars, (two-way tie, 9.905 average) and 23rd on beam (three-way tie, 9.83 average).

PAC-10 NOTES

ARIZONA- The Wildcats have scored season-high team totals for two consecutive weeks. Their 196.200 was not only 0.100 points away from a Cardinal upset, but also ranks as the second-best team score in school history...Arizona set season-high marks in three team events: Vault(49.025), bars (49.375) and beam (48.975). Arizona's bar score ties the third-best mark in school history...SR Kara Fry and JR Randi Liljenquist both received scores that placed them on Arizona's all-time top-10 list. Fry's 9.950 on bars was a career-high first- place finish and ties the third best all-time score. Her 39.525 All-Around score was good for first and No. 2 all-time. Liljenquist's 9.875 on vault was No. 8 on the list.

ARIZONA STATE - The No. 13 Sun Devils proved they are a 197-plus team this weekend by scoring 197.125 to win the Uno Classic...ASU impressed 1,508 fans winning its 24th consecutive home meet against California (195.875), Boise State (193.225) and UCSB (185.075)...JR Laura Moon became the second Sun Devil in history to score a perfect 10.0 on bars. Her score enabled ASU to post a school-record 49.375 on that event...The Sun Devils also posted season-high team marks on vault (49.0) and floor (49.525)... On the floor exercise, three Sun Devils were equally outstanding. FR Maggie Germaine, SR Kelly Cowley and SR Kristin Fanning all earned 9.925s to tie for first place. Moon and Germaine both had career-high All-Around totals finishing 1-2...ASU's team total ties its school record.

CALIFORNIA -At the Uno Classic, the Bears finished in second place (194.875) to Arizona State's team record 197.125...Against UC Davis on Sunday, the Bears dominated the Aggies, winning the top-five places on bars and beam. Bear vaulters also stole the show taking the top-four spots on that event...JR Carrie Kreifels was tops on both bars (9.90) and beam (9.825). SR Pari Olver was California's top All-Arounder for the second consecutive week (39.075).

OREGON STATE - Oregon State's goal of increasing consistency was realized on Sunday against Washington. For the first time this season, the Beavers did not have to count a fall. Their team score of 196.325 was the second-highest total of the year...SO Annie Campbell's 9.90 tie for first place inhibited a Husky sweep of first place on every event. Although the Beavers team win on the beam (49.100) was their only event title of the night, their 49.150 on floor was their second-highest total of the season.

STANFORD -Stanford maintained its No. 5- ranking with a win against Arizona at McKale Center. The Wildcats competed hard and finished with 196.200 points but the Cardinal depth proved unbeatable. They scored 196.300 points to win the meet...SR Jen Exaltacion triumphed on beam scoring 9.925 while FR Lindsay Wing scored one of the three 9.950s (the highest mark of the meet) to win on vault... And don't forget...last weeks dual between California and Stanford will be televised by Fox Sports Net Bay Area (Tape delayed for March 7, 8:30pm-10pm PST).

WASHINGTON - The Huskies scored a school record 196.875 points and defeated the 19th-ranked Oregon State Beavers...Led by JR Stacy Wong, Washington took first place on every event Sunday. Wong's 9.95 on vault was a career high, good for first on the vault. Her 9.90s on beam (tie for first) and floor (third place) were also career -highs...The Huskies assaulted the record books this weekend setting new standards on bars (49.500), team total score (196.875) and the All-Around (Stacy Wong-39.700).

UCLA- UCLA did not compete this week. However, look for the No. 1 Bruins to be in fine form on March 4 when they host the Bruin Classic at Pauley Pavilion.
