Women's Golf in Third After Round One of the Bay Area Classic

VALLEJO, Calif. - The California women's golf team shot an opening round 310 to stand in third place after the first of two days of the 12-team Bay Area Classic Monday at Hiddenbrooke Country Club. Washington leads the pack with an 11-over-par 299, while San Diego State is second at 309.

Washington's Kelli Kamimura leads the individual race with an opening round 69, three strokes ahead of her teammate Lindsay Morgan (72).

Senior Cheryl Lala is Cal's top golfer in a three-way tie for fourth place with a 76. Also in the top 10 is Cal sophomore Vikki Laing, who fired a 77.

The final round of the 36-hole tournament, which Cal co-hosts with USF, begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun round today.
