Feb. 28, 2001
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Two more athletes have signed national letters of intent to play women's soccer at Oregon State, head coach Steve Fennah announced Wednesday.
The addition of Gabby Nejedlo (North Vancouver, British Columbia) and Kellen Todd-Quinn (Eugene, OR), make eight signees for OSU's 2001 squad.
'We are excited about this class coming in. It's a large group that has great athleticism and great speed,' Fennah said. 'Throughout the whole group, there's a very competitive edge within them. We are also excited about some of them being able to come in to score a lot of goals.'
Nejedlo, a graduate of Argyle High School in North Vancouver, B.C., was one of the Canadian (U-18) National team goalkeepers. Nejedlo was also a member of the National Team Training Pool and Provincial Team.
'Gabby is an excellent athlete and will be competing for the starting position at goalkeeper,' said Fennah. 'She and newcomer Jo Fletcher give us a lot of strength at that position and are both very good.'
Todd-Quinn, a graduate of Sheldon High School, was a four-year member of the varsity squad and earned first team All-Conference honors in 1997-99. Todd-Quinn competed for the Willamette Pride club team that was State Champion from 1997-2000.
'Kellen is a very versatile defender or midfield player,' said Fennah. 'She's very comfortable with the ball and has great passing skills.'
