No. 22 Oregon Softball Competes At Worth Invitational

No. 22 Oregon This Week Oregon's scheduled doubleheader with UC Riverside March 1 was postponed due to rain. The game will be rescheduled for a later date. The Ducks continue tournament play at the Worth Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton. Fullerton, ranked No. 11 in the NFCA/USA Today Poll this week, is the only ranked opponent Oregon will face at the tournament.
Last Week Oregon was 5-1 at the Troy Cox Classic in Las Cruces New Mexico.The Ducks defeated Southern Illinois (4-1), New Mexico State (7-6), Iowa State (6-2), Houston (6-0) and Texas A&M Corpus Christi (8-0). The Ducks only loss was at the hands of Baylor, 3-0. Sophomores Lisa Wangler and Alyssa Laux were named to the all-tournament team.
Scouting Long Beach The 49ers are 5-10 heading into the tournament and are in the midst of a six-game losing streak. Freshman Jamie Farnworth is leading the team in batting average (.353).
Scouting No. 11 Fullerton The Titans are 14-5 and hold a winning record against all nine teams competing at the tournament. Fullerton has won five of the last six against Oregon. Jenny Topping leads the Titans in batting average (.400) and runs batted in (21) and has four home runs.
Scouting Pacific Pacific is 7-4 overall and won its last two games against Tennessee Feb. 25-26. Senior Natalie Farmer leads the team in hitting (.323) andruns scored (six). Defensively, pitcher Cindy Ball is 5-2 with a 3.19 earned run average to lead the Tigers.
Scouting San Jose State The Spartans are 5-8 and have lost four of their last six games heading into the Worth Invitational. Amy Walter is hitting .333 with two home runs and seven runs batted in.
Scouting Minnesota The Golden Gophers have won four of their last five games and are 10-3-1 overall. Senior Angel Braden is hitting .425 with five home runs, five doubles and 21 runs battedin on the season. Freshman pitcher Piper Martin has been stellar for Minnesota this season, posting a 9-1 record with a 0.98 ERA.
Scouting New Mexico The Lobos are 7-9 overall and have lost three straight games after upsetting Washington, 3-2, Feb. 23. Senior Krissy Keene is hitting .366 andhas one home run, four doubles and 11 RBI's.
