Wonmen's Tennis Routs Pacific, 7-0

STANFORD, Calif. - The top-ranked Stanford University women's tennis team improved to 12-0 with an easy 7-0 non-conference home win over unranked Pacific (2-4) on Friday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

The Cardinal returns to action on Saturday when it hosts ninth-ranked Pepperdine at noon.Stanford had little trouble with the Tigers on Friday, winning all six singles matches in straight sets and losing a combined total of just nine games in the three doubles matches. In the singles matches, Stanford lost six games or fewer in all of the victories.

Cardinal sophomore Laura Granville (Chicago, IL/The Latin School), who is currently ranked No. 1 in the country and is the defending NCAA Singles Champion, improved to 25-1 on the season with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Susanne Bertel at No. 1 singles.

At No. 1 doubles, Stanford's duo of freshman Lauren Barnikow (Woodbridge, NJ/Woodbridge HS) and junior Lauren Kalvaria (Indialantic, FL/Boca Raton Prep), who are also ranked No. 1 in the nation, defeated Christiane Barthel and Diana D'Audney 8-2.
